Needing a little help on receiving files in Einstein. I have some things I have tried, maybe some of you might have answers or experienced some of these.
What I want to do:
Working to download ,mod music files off the internet using the Mod Saver app under Newt's Cape.
I've gotten this to work on real hardware a lot back around 2005. I think then I was able to upload files through the serial port (possibly eeTerminal) in the in/box where the ModSaver was able to turn the mod files into Newton Mod Packages. It is amazing how much of this I've forgotten. :P
Newt's Cape under Einstein and the wonderful "Einstein Network Card" that uses the computer's network is now zipping around the internet nicely. Even loads https://modarchive.org/ where we see on that page recommended new music files, and all of them UNZIPPED! How nice.
In theory Newt's Cape not only as a app for converting .mod files, but also a unzip app? So Newt's Cape is supposed to save to the In/Out box where the conversion takes place? But there are.. here we go, challenges.
Challenge One: Newt's Cape 2.1e-2(NIE)
I tried two links. Neither saved to the in/out box.
FIRST LINK I tried was https://api.modarchive.org/downloads.php?moduleid=212016#anders_hamre_-_wrath_of_aphrodite.mod
This one Newt's Caoe cut down to https://api.modarchive.org/downloads.php?moduleid=212016
And then it fails. Why can't Newt's Cape recognize "#" in a URL?
SECOND LINK I tried was https://dflund.se/~fernbom/music/mods/files/takeonme.zip
which it thought about for a good minutes like it was trying to download, and then... nothing.
BTW, I did try both "https://" and "http://". And "http://" in this case was a bit more successful.
After the second link I started to wonder if the IN/OUT box is in fact working in Einstein yet?
Challenge Two: Einstein's IN/OUT box
No items were received from what I was trying in Newt's Cape.
I looked under "receive" and all were laughable... Fax, Beam, Update (by phone?) yeh those were probably not active in the Einstein environment. But then I saw "Fetch URL" and thought "I'm SAVED!! (Maybe...)"
So I put in the URLs I tried in Newt's Cape into this URL entry field and ...
"https://api.modarchive.org/downloads.php?moduleid=212016#anders_hamre_-_wrath_of_aphrodite.mod" - some activity and then -48204 was referenced.
"https://dflund.se/~fernbom/music/mods/files/takeonme.zip" - Error code 400
From all the above, any ideas or recommendations come to mind? I think I am trying to tackle remembering exactly how the ModSaver app on Newt's Cape worked along with trying to get it to work in the Einstein environment.
Thanks,
Greg / Doc Clu
