[NTLK] Connecting a Newton/eMate to SheepSaver or Basilisk II emulators

Does anyone have any recent experience with either of these two Classic Mac OS emulators connecting to a Newton or eMate? There is lots of historical stuff in the list but most of it is very outdated. I have all the physical hardware (USB to serial adapters etc) but can’t seem to get the serial ports within the emulators connecting to Newton devices.
