The USB dongle will help you out here. Not sure about the PCMCIA card, but I thought you can install a package on one and then later move that package into the machine. But the 110 has a much older OS, so it will probably not like the format of the time patch. Old packages that work on the 110 should be transferable though, but I have not tried that.
Also, could you use the infrared port? Not sure, but the communication may have changed from Newton OS V1 to V2.
