[NTLK] Darkening spot on Newton 2100 screen - ( "vinegar syndrome")

I used to use my 2100 for ‘datalogging’ at racing events, since the Newt was quick and easy to write on standing in our grid spot, and would give us ambient temperature, which is important to know.  It gets HOT here in the summer, and the 2100 would occasionally get what I called ‘hot spots’, that is darkening in spots on the screen due to exposure to the sun and heat.  Getting the thing out of direct sunlight, even though it was still outside, allowed the hot spot to disappear.  

We haven’t powered our 2100’s up in a while, so no clue if Dr. Clu’s issue may be due to just age.

I suspect the only thing that will fix it is a screen replacement but perhaps others might chime in on this?
