[NTLK] Charging an eMate with a very low battery pack and missing patch after reset

Hello all

(My second ever email to this list!)

I picked up my eMate last week. I'd not used it since well before Christmas and it was completely dead. The battery pack had run so far down that was not even being recognised. It was not accepting a charge and when the charger was plugged in the charge light went green and gave an error along the lines of "this battery pack needs replacing. I'm afraid I cannot remember the exact wording and I forgot to take a screenshot! When the charger was disconnected the eMate went dead.

Eventually I reset the eMate (holding PWR button and pressing reset). When I replugged in the charger the charge light went red so I left it charging overnight.

The next day all was well and the battery pack was now at 100%!

My first question is whether I did the right thing? Did I need to reset it? If not what should I have done in the situation?

Secondly the eMate seems fine except I noticed that NewtTest now says:

########################################
Current OS: 2.1 (732000)
Can be updated to: 2.1 (737246)
########################################

I did think I’d added this patch already.

Does the reset remove patches? All my original files are still there.

If so then why has it "kept" 732000" but not "737246"?

I tried to check my notes to see what patches I had applied. Could it be I never applied this patch in the first place?

I tried the Newton FAQ and I’m just not sure if I need to apply this one!

Many thanks!

Cheers
Chris
