Just an update for everyone,
I have had a successful test of the new USBC battery and will be updating
the Github soon with finalized information for the version of the battery
that uses foil pack batteries.
Currently the prototype uses an 1100 mAh battery. I am able to charge and
power the newton via the USBC port, but that is enough power for a daily
driving/nightly charging newton, as a side effect, extra batteries can
charge outside of the newton. I am designing a 3d-printed enclosure for
batteries so that you can store them as time permits as the terminals are
exposed and do have power on them (I am debating on a power switch to turn
off a battery).
Since everything has internal current limiting to about 1A, it protects the
newton from overcurrent, I am looking at what additional protections may
need to be integrated.
I am working on the next version which will use two 14500 Cells in
parallel to power the unit, allowing for a higher capacity as well as a bit
more safety. As soon as I complete this prototype I will add it to GitHub.
This was a tight fit, but allows me to have the newton with me every day,
and charge and power from all my other standard stuff.
Best Regards,
Elias
