[NTLK] Strange Error Message from Lady Newt

Hello, fellow Newtonians. Something happened last Friday that has me
stumped.

My Newton (MP2000U) was on my desk and plugged in. I tried to turn it off
after making a note. It refused at first but went off on the 4th attempt.
About an hour later I tried to turn it on to do more work on it. Nothing
happened. I checked power supply and battery, cut all power for an hour or
so and tried again, but still nothing. I tried a soft reset. Still
nothing. So I cut off power until yesterday (Sunday) evening when I
replaced the batteries and plugged in the power supply. After several
attempts it finally turned on and displayed this message:

"This unit requires immediate
repair. Factory calibration has been
lost. It will not charge batteries
until this problem is corrected."

In fact, it apparently has lost all my settings and my added-on software.
When I replaced the storage card in the slot it didn't load everything
properly.

I have no idea what "repair" requires in this context.

Any suggestions how I should proceed?

Shalom,

Christian
