Here are all of the various update paths I’ve tested on a MessagePad 2100:
717006 -> 717260 -> 712000 *
717006 -> 71J059 -> 712000
717006 -> 711000 -> 712000
717006 -> 712000
All of these worked as expected. Yay!
* For some reason when I try to update 717006 using Apple’s 717260 package, I get an alert that reads:
“This System Update is already installed on this Newton.”

Using the “717260 Install Override” package updates the Newton to 717260 as expected.
This makes me wonder if the Patch Remover doesn’t quite remove everything between these tests.
