[NTLK] Trying to get 3Com cards to work., getting 61001 error

Unsuccessfully trying to get 3Com Ethernet cards to work.

I've made sure all NIE 2 packages are installed and re-installed. 
Re-installed the 3com drivers. Error above still happens. Does NIE maybe 
need the NIE 1.1 and NIE 1.0 packages to build on? Don't remember that 
being the case.

I've tried a stack of 3C589 cards and they are all giving a 61001 
error.   Any idea what I need to do differently?
