[NTLK] Current state of Newton wireless solutions

I recently got my 2000 back online.

If you have the Newton side working, that’s a good start. I had two solutions that I’ve used in the past:

1. Use the guest network option on my router without any security, but limit the upload/download speed to about dialup speeds. The guest network keeps the Newt separate from your main net and the speed limit keeps any serious users off.

2. I bought an old AirPort Express and set it up (using an old Mac) with MAC filtering. I looked at the MAC address on the wireless card and typed that into the AirPort settings, so that only my Newton will be able to connect to it and only using that wireless card. Then name the network “COMPUTER VIRUS” and nobody else will be able to connect (or want to). I plug the AirPort Express into my main router. Thanks to Pawel for giving me this idea I think.

You could do #2 with your old base station.

Good luck.
