[NTLK] NewtonTalk Digest, Vol 118, Issue 5

Thank you for everyone’s advice re the hinge. Clearly it is an issue and a few of my other newtons have it and the screens have missing lines. I will definitely not move the screen on my prototype. I will use one of the more poorer condition ones to open and check out the hinge fix process.

As an aside, I made this list a Digest years ago when I was working and was trying to reduce emails. Now I am retired I don’t mind getting a few more mails. I can’t finds any way of switching the Digest back to individual emails?

Thanks to Matthias?s work, I?ve got a prototype interconnect connector, and thanks to Pawel and others I?ve soldered together a serial to usb adapter, and now the final piece of the puzzle is to solder on a voltage regulator. I?ve been using this document to help:

You could measure that with a multimeter, and the pins between the power pin and the interconnect port pin 2 should have close to 0 Ohm.

So it is likely that would have done the same on the interconnect port if there was something to note. They didn't, so I am pretty sure it's just a normal power/charge port.
