Another update.

I played with all the icons on the Card properties for the ATA preferences and it just turned the color of the card from black to white and didn’t let me lock the card, so that option is no possible with Compact Flash (maybe)

BUT…. I tried the recordings on my eMate and realized the record button was greyed out.  Exactly what I wanted!

Turns out, if you changed the record options in presences to “none” it will remove the ability to record, which is exactly what I wanted.  So when you click record it will ask you to turn on the record options, or where you want to record from.  And you can say “Opps, I just wanted to play, but my pen slipped” and RE-recording over the media doesn’t happen, so crisis averted!  

Thanks for all your help and thoughts folks!  From this I will say Compact Flash is the best option for storage on the Newton!
