[NTLK] Does anybody know what happened to the Apple Newton web ring?

I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. I was an admin of the Apple Newton Webring for years, but like the rest of the Webring network, it became a swamp full of linkrot, invasive javascript, and pop-up ads. I deleted my account and removed the webring code from my sites years ago.
