[NTLK] Does anybody know what happened to the Apple Newton web ring?

Wikipedia gives an actual date: “ As of August 15, 2020, webring.com is inaccessible.”

So, I wonder if that date is when the Wikipedia entry’s author last happened to try it—or if there is some reason for that date, which is not made clear.
