Based on what Paul told me, the library facilitated the creation of more efficient functions that could be executed more quickly. Those function would be used to handle certain types of data transactions, such as updating the screen bitmaps in NewtVNC. Less bottlenecks in the code would mean faster connections and so forth.
You’d have to ask Steve Weyer whether implementing Paul’s code actually provided any measurable increases in performance.
