[NTLK] Getting confused with serial ports

Hello all,
I’m back again with more newbie questions.
I just received my new-to-me Newton 2000 with a MP2100 tag on the rear serial and power ports.
I restored a backup from my previous Newton 2000 to get back to my baseline.
The new-to-me Newton 2000 came with a keyboard, so at long last I can use the external keyboard with my Newton
First, when I use NewtInfo, it shows the Internal Ram Size = 3984K (close to 4MB)
I thought if it had been upgraded to a 2100 it would have another 4MB added so it should be close to 8MB.
Am I incorrect in my thinking here?
Next, my previous 2000 had an internal board added for USB serial I/O.
Along with that, it had a memory card with four packages on it for SerialChannel3 at four different high bit rates.
One of those was for 38400 BPS, and I selected that speed for connecting to NCX on my Mac laptop.
My new-to-me 2000 does not have this USB upgrade, so I believe I do not have a Serial Channel 3.
I attempted to attach my new 2000 to my Mac laptop to dock with NCX, but I find that I can only select up to 9600 BPS on the Newton, and the slowest selection on NCX is 38400 BPS. Hmmm…
What does everyone here do? Is there a way to slow NCX down to 9600 BPS?
Do I have to get a PCMCIA SIO or get another USB upgrade?
If I get that USB upgrade, can I still use my dongle connection for the keyboard?
Hints, tips, and advice are very welcome!
