[NTLK] Einstein, last call

You are not the only one. And there are several issues with the latest version. I tried to message Matthias, but I am guessing a spam filter ate them somewhere. One is it seems the newer windows versions do not run on anything but 10 and 11. :( Being that so much of our windows software for newton is older and is run in VM's (NCU, Xport, Press, etc) this is a problem.

Einstein starts, you see the boot screen, hear the chime, if there are installed packages they load, then CRASH/freeze with the boot screen still up. Blank/new internal flash don't make any difference.

I doubt anything can be done considering the current build tools are made with extra effort to block anything older than windows 10 (or at least so I have been told). To make it compatible with older versions I suspect one would need to downgrade said build tools and Microsoft has made that very difficult if not impossible. Perhaps we should ask a AI for better build tools that can make builds that work with older versions of windows as an option. :P

Maybe it's because, as a software developer and programmer, I enjoy and appreciate the craft so much, and now there's just nothing to do.  I should be happy - "Hooray, everything works now like we planned", but I'm not.  Is it just the fallacy of sunken cost[3] irrationally yelling in my head?

However with Daniel's newton-re, there is really no longer a need for the existence of Einstein. newton-re can now run NewtonOS at full speed without emulation and without a ROM. With a matching user interface, it will be far superior to Einstein, performance wise at the least.
