That... is a excellent question!  The short answer is:  YES!

Longer answer:

To answer that I dug up a compact flash to micro-SD card adaptor that I 
picked up for a Zaurus 5600 I had a while back.  Never used this adaptor 
and barely remembered I had it.  :P

I went through the same procedure, this time plugging the compact flash 
to SD adaptor in my compact flash reader.  I laughed when I was digging 
through my SD cards and found the smallest SD card I have: 2 GB.  And 
laughed again when I realized we were talking GB, not MB.  LOL

So I wrote using "sudo dd" a 8 mb image onto a 2 gb card.

The result?   It worked!   Apparently if you write a smaller image onto 
a larger media the Newton will see it as the image and ignore the rest.

That was one test, same image as the previously tested, but so far so good.

Wow, this is a really cool feature. I saw PCMCIA adapters to SD-Cards. Do those work too? It's probably super hard tu get SD Cards with 64MB or smaller. I did get CF Cards, but only directly from China.
