[NTLK] Andrés Galluzzi’s mysterious Newton Backup Viewer

Several years ago, a fellow named Andrés Galluzzi released a Windows application called Newton Connection Tools [1]. It was an updated take on Apple’s NCU and other Windows-centric Newton utilities for backing up and restoring data, managing package installation, and so on.

At one point, he was apparently donating proceeds from the registration of his software to UNNA. [2]

One additional feature of this software was something called Newton Backup Viewer.

NewtonTalk member Michael Schaefer (who I believe still gets the list digest) wrote briefly about the Newton Backup Viewer in his review of NCT back in 2008 [3], but it doesn’t mention much other than you could view contacts saved in a backup file.

Does anyone else have experience with the Backup Viewer? Did it do anything else?

Can anyone provide a screenshot of it in action?

(An upcoming addition to the Newton Glossary is curious ...)

Thanks!

g.
