The Newton Driver Development Kit (DDK) already has a few drivers available, some in source code form, so we can update these to do whatever we need. A NE2000 is included as an example.

The card itself is promised to come with firmware, also in source code form. There should be a working NE2000 emulation firmware for the card.

So if everything works as expected, the card should work out of the box. Maybe it needs some help on the PicoPCMCIA firmware side to enable modern encryption.

IIRC there was an earlier post about mixed cards, i.e. having a card that is a network card and a linear flash card at the same time. Not sure if that works out of the box, probably not, but the card has a connector, so adding a button that switches between modes is one option.
