Hi Tom,
I realize milage may very from the various versions of Einstein and NCX across various platforms.
The NCX on my Mac is telling me it is the latest version. (3.0.2 (67)
Einstein I am running 2025.9.26
When I connect *Einstein* to NCX with the TCP/IP connection I get our options: Backup, Install Package, Import, and keyboard.
From the Newton side:
Keyboard I know works.
Install package Is already a native feature to Einstein.
Import tries to get a file list and times out.
Backup tries for a second and gives a message “A Connectio error has occurred (-4)”
On the Mac side when connecting Einstein to NCX you have the options of primarily Keyboard and Display.
Keyboard once again works.
Display comes out warped, but then I do use a screen ratio that is larger than usual (920x 520 with 125% scale), so that might be the effect.
I tried to use the display with regular resolution (320x 480 with 100% scale) and I could not get the display option to sync up and it would disconnect. This is also trying to make sure the toolkit or NCU was installed and working.
So hopefully that is more “backstory”. Einstein with NCX at least has the keyboard function working, but unfortunately attempts to back up Einstein result in communication errors and happens if I just select notes or try for a full backup, the result is the same.
My previous message, realizing all this is a work in progress, is I hope at some point notes from Einstein can be backed up in the future, or the ability to simply copy and paste from Einstein to the host computer (PC/Mac/Linux)
Thanks,
Greg / Doc Clu

I'm not sure of the back story here, but Einstein on Linux certainly supports serial, so you can just connect it to NCX, same as real hardware.
Can't you ?
