A quick thought written on my eMate about the Interconnect Docking Station from NewtonSales.com.

I like audio notes on the Newton, and that comes from when the schematics where shared on how to make both audio in and audio out devices cables to use with the Newton Interconnect port.

My Dad who is quite skilled with the soldering iron whipped out two cables, one for Audio in and the other for Audio out. Many hours of audio recordings from that. So the interconnect port is a long time favorate for me, and a more packaged addition seemed fun. So the Interconnect Dock was bought, which is a bit overkill but adds about everything you'd want. Older Mac and PC ports, along with USB for transfers. USB also for a power adaptor? That goes along with the board that NewtonSales has where you can use a USB-C cord to power your Newton 2000. And of course the Audio ports.

So cool 3D-printed case or not, the dock will not connect to a eMate as the casing of the eMate gets in the way. If there was a Interconnect port extender it would probably work fine as I have used my older audio in and out cables on a eMate and if you transfer (beam) a audio message from a Newton 2000 to the eMate, the eMate can then record. Just keep duplicating that message and you're set to go. Oh, and you need a Audio in solution and sadly this dock is not it.

The dock does fit quite snuggly with the Newton 2000 /2100 however. So I played with that for a few minutes. Got a note up, plugged in my cell phone to the audio in port on the dock using a audio patch cable, and recorded just fine.

So anyone interested in making a interconnect port extender? I can supply the male connector! Currently taking offers. Once I have that, I can have the audio in port on the eMate that I've always wanted.
