Just as a data point, the latest release for Linux, the 2025-10-11 appimage, works fine using "modem port" as "/dev/ttyACM0", which is where my Newton's serial cable appears, and I have a backup running now to NCU, running in the emulated MacOS 8.1.

*In theory* if I get both Basilisk and the Newton on the same network, should I be able to backup over AppleTalk to ... ?
