NCX is a full framework for importing and exporting data. Simon has updated it last in 2017. I was able to compile his app back then, and I will try again to do that. One of the great features is a plugin interface that allows us to write import and export plugins for whatever format we like. But as with everything else, someone would have to sit down and actually write those :)

The .sit file does not need a resource fork. Just make sure you copy the .sit onto the Classic Mac and unpack it there. I don;t know where to find exactly the drivers you need, but there are several sites out there specifically offering Classic Mac apps and drivers. Newton things generally need no Resource Fork, and if you lose the type information, you can restore that with ResEdit and similar tools.
