[NTLK] Looking for eMate charger

(my first email on this list as I've only just got into using Newtons!). I wish I'd have known about this lower current charger before as I would definitely have bought one!

I've had a charging problem with my eMate. I'd rebuilt the battery pack (with 1.9Ah batteries) sometime ago, but kept getting a fault "The adaptor is providing too much power. The battery cannot be charged with this adaptor". It's a genuine Newton charger and via NewtTest I saw the battery was 6.30v at 1.676A then when the error appeared it was 7.32v at 0.004A. From what I read that sounds about right.

I found that if the Newton was turned off then it charged to 100%, though it took eight hours or so and the light never turned green!

Anyway I've been persisting with this for some months (part of my project* to journal daily on the eMate and import into Day One on my MacBook Pro). I saw a Newton eMate charger for sale on eBay last week so I purchased it in case my charger was faulty.

Whilst testing that one I realised that it charges fine and the charging light will switch to green when it is charged powered on but with the backlight turned off! Is that normal behaviour?

So I now have two chargers (heyho, two are better than one!).

Sorry for the rambling reply hijacking a simple thread but thanks for all the great resources! Really enjoying using the eMate!

Cheers
Ferg
