I left my patched MP2100 without power overnight in order to drain the supercapacitor* and it booted this morning.

The date on the device was June 27, 2030!

That year was a bit of a surprise ... and it seems to be running fine.

* An electrolytic capacitor located on the motherboard that stores a small amount of electricity, functioning like to a backup battery to maintain information like the date. The supercap comes into use when swapping out the battery pack if the device is not being powered using the AC adapter.
