Hi Noah,

I had that same CoolPix 950 camera and its predecessor the CoolPix 900.
The 950 came with a:

SC-EW2 RS-232C se-

rial cable for PC/AT

computers


Then to connect it with a Mac

 SC-EM2 serial cable

adapter for Macintosh

computers

Doing a Google search on this communication issue one of the possible
answers is:
Wrong camera mode (needs Mass Storage/PC Connect)

Did you set the camera through the menu to Mass Storage mode?
