[NTLK] Tibet

I acquired a Nikon Coolpix 950 which seems to be a really great vintage camera, its pics are good enough quality to be considered “nice” instead of “novelty” but it’s old enough that it *should* be able to talk to my Newton running Tibet.

Formerly I’ve got this working with my Epson digital camera.

The thing is, the CoolPix came “as-is” without a serial cable. The camera end uses a 2.5mm stereo jack (as far as I can tell) on one end, and an RS232 serial plug on the other. I bought a 2.5mm stereo jack and a mini-din-8 plug and wired them together to connect to my Newt, matching the TxD, RxD and GND pins, and the camera seems to start “thinking” when I try to download photos in Tibet, the little animation on the top LCD screen marches along for a moment, but then Tibet complains it had a communications error.

I suspect I’m missing something in regards to wiring up the serial connection. Any ideas?

The ultimate goal is to go from Camera ———> email with my photos, and then maybe even to Instagram. Right now still stuck on step 1.
