It's looking like well under 50 USD for components.  I can print the
holders in PETG on one of my printers.  The pack is what I am currently
sourcing as it's just a foil pack battery, however due to commonly
available sizes, it may be 1200 to 1800 mah as the sweet spot for capacity.

Has anyone measured the idle current draw from a battery when the Newton is
asleep?  As most commercially available boards auto shut off at 50ma of
draw.  I may have to make a pack with wires so I can connect to my bench
PSU to verify current draw.
