Mathias,

Great work so far on the dongle!

I have been doing a bit of looking at your circuit with regards to the diode.

Since the original newton adaptor is 9W if I am not mistaken, that
would be 1.28A needed at 7V which will power all cards and charge. I
am going to look the full circuit to see what the full current
capacity would be and if there may be a more suitable choice for this.
Looking at your circuit, it seems like the components are pretty much
in spec from my point of view (Glancing at a schematic and a datasheet
for a quick look).

What is the failure mode of these diodes? Do they let out the magic
smoke? Or do they stop handling current after a bit? Or is it an
instant failure?

I am going to familiarize myself with your circuit a bit better as
time permits me and have a look at it over the next few days and do a
bit of math and research.

Best Regards,
Elias Basse
