Hello Newton Friends,

Not knowing what Nick's Soft Charge / SoftCharge utility is, I went looking for it. I found it on one of the United Newton Network Archives (UNNA) servers. Here's a direct link to the download:

Definitely, it would be [1] best to use Nick's Soft Charge so the battery
percentages are more accurate when using NiMH AA cells in the battery tray.
Bear in mind that the [2] larger capacity AA NiMH (as others have noted)
has a larger diameter as the capacity rises.

As I've mentioned before my Modified Battery Tray. Wish someone could make
    them at a reasonable price.

This modified tray included all the needed parts from a rechargeable pack
added to the MP2000/2100 Battery Tray.
    * Some of you here can make these modified battery trays yourself.
Wish we could print them up somehow.

I believe Frank had concerns because I was in the planning stages of making
a third revision with a switch to differentiate that you were using
    Alkaline or NiMH AA cells.
I never had the time in the end nor was I able to find an appropriate
switch small enough to fit the space requirements.
I'm not a real electronics designer and only a hack DIY creator.

    God bless,
