Alan,

First, the "Phillips head" thing on the back is not related to the PCMCIA card. Its purpose is for attaching the OMP/MP100 firmly inside a protective case.
Yes, the switch at the top near the PCMCIA slot is the tab that Pawel discovered in his blog.
NOS 1.00 certainly is very old. My MP100 has NOS 1.3.

>I have also read Pawel?s blog post about his experimentation with the same card and his OMP.

>I recently refurbished a Newton OMP H1000 with Newton OS 1.00 installed. I have also acquired a used Newton Getting Started card (dated 1993 with part number
>649-0020-A). The card appears to be in excellent physical condition (no bends, dents, or other marks). There is no write-protect switch on the card.
>When I insert the card into my refurbished Newton OMP / H1000, I get a slip on the Newton that reads:
>?The card you inserted cannot be read. Do you want to completely erase this card??
>(Erase) (X)
>When inserting or removing the card from the OMP, I lift the tab at the top of the left side of the device and then press the card eject button.
>I presume that the tab switch near the top is the switch that is discussed in the archived discussions from 2019, but?, there is a Phillips head screw-looking opening >located on the back of the OMP, center.
>Cheers,
